How to Create a Logo Design for a Kitchen Blog

An illustration I made for a kitchen website was a pig chef holding a plate of food.  It's a cute vector cartoon character which has simple lines and minimal color.
I like the pig character for a food blog because pigs love to eat.  They may be negatively portrayed as lazy, greedy and unclean but I prefer their positive symbolism which is prosperity.  The pig character suits the chef profession.  I imagine him to be hardworking in the kitchen and very meticulous in all the details of his food preparation.  I portrayed the face with humor to give a lighter side to his character.

Simple and clean sketch lines will make the form stand out with thick, irregular black outlines.  Orange, brown and white colors matched the scheme of the website.

I used Adobe Photoshop when I created this drawing.  I simply sketched the design on paper.  First, I looked for pictures of human chefs and copied the actions they made, applied it on my pig drawing then after choosing the best pose, I finalized the sketch and scanned it.  To draw the black lines I used the pen tool and finally add color with the fill tool.

This pig chef stands out prominently on  the Amigo Kitchen website and I'm sure it does bring a smile to its viewers.  You can look it up and take a look  at the pig chef on a kitchen blog.
